Just in: ‘Twist’ as ex-New York Jets coach set to return

New York Jets coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas will remain to oversee the team next season, as predicted.

The team’s owner, Woody Johnson, told the New York Post on Sunday that he will not change the football leadership of the organization, despite a disappointing season that saw the team miss the playoffs for the 13th consecutive year—the longest current drought in major North American professional sports.

“I have decided to retain them,” Johnson stated to the press prior to the Jets’ encounter with the Washington Commanders. “I believe we’ve made some really wise decisions. The team has a far superior culture. It’s better on defense. A few things are needed for the offensive.

Johnson said that one of the factors influencing his choice is quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ return the following season. Four snaps into his Jets debut, the 40-year-old Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon. The Jets lost 30-0 in Miami last Sunday, eliminating them from playoff contention.

Rodgers backed Saleh, Douglas, and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett wholeheartedly earlier this week.
