In the Los Angeles Lakers’ away game against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, Bronny James made his first preseason start and finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell were the five Lakers starters that were rested. They also sat other bench players, including youngster Dalton Knecht, Gabe Vincent, Max Christie, and Jarred Vanderbilt, who have rotation places reserved.
Players like James had a fantastic potential to grow, get more playing time, and become more prominent offensive players as a result.
Even though the Golden State Warriors defeated Los Angeles 132-74 this evening, James had his moments.
Prior to this game, James had a poor shooting record in the summer league and preseason, but he performed admirably offensively on Friday under the bright lights. He was more aggressive than normal, hit his first three of the preseason, and showed efficiency.
While some fans praised James’s efforts, others pointed out how challenging it must be for him to navigate his rookie season with so many people watching.
The Lakers’ preseason ends after Friday. Up next is the regular season, starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves rolling into L.A. on Tuesday.
