The free agency class of 2025 is slowly growing with the likes of Denver Broncos’ Garett Bolles and Kansas City Chiefs’ Trey Smith predicted to get new deals. Among those players fans should keep an eye on is Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill.
The Lions are actively pursuing a contract extension for McNeill, as confirmed by general manager Brad Holmes. While the team has recently invested significantly in extending key offensive players, the discussions regarding the tackle’s future are still in the early stages.
Holmes indicated that while there hasn’t been intense dialogue yet, both parties are aware of the desire to reach a long-term agreement.
McNeill had a standout performance last season, recording career highs with 18 solo tackles, six sacks, and 23 quarterback hits across 13 regular-season games and three playoff matches.
The Lions have bolstered their defensive line with the addition of D.J. Reader and the return of Levi Onwuzurike, which should provide the defensive tackle with additional support.
