When it comes to their quarterback situation, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in a far better position than they were this time last year. Both of them are in the last year of their contracts, so unless they want to start over in the 2025 offseason, something will need to be done with one of them.
It’s too early to say if Justin Fields or Russell Wilson will do that. Fields is still young, so the Steelers brass would be foolish not to extend him if he proves he has what it takes to be the team’s leader for the next ten years. It’s not as easy as it seems, though, because Fields isn’t anticipated to start in 2024 barring an injury.

To be honest, Fields will need to want to return, thus general manager Omar Khan will need to be resourceful in order to make it work. In the off-season, quarterbacks are always interesting to watch, but with the Steelers in particular. It will be intriguing to watch how everything plays out in-season and how Wilson and Fields perform once training camp starts.
