The Sooners are targeting another defensive tackle, just one day after the spring transfer window season opened. The Sooners’ spring game on Saturday is scheduled to be hosted by TCU transfer Damonic Williams, per a report from Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Williams, a legitimate nose tackle potential at 6-foot-2 and 320 pounds, has shown promise in his two years at TCU. He had 60 total stops, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in 26 games.
Williams was named a freshman All-American in 2022 and an All-Big 12 pick in 2023. Among the defensive tackles the Sooners have on their roster for 2024, he played 477 snaps with the Horned Frogs in the previous season.Pro Football Focus reports that he had 19 pressures in all last season, including two against the Sooners.Ascending nose tackle, he’s off to an outstanding start in his college career. He would contribute right away to the Sooners’ nose tackle rotation and offer Terry and the young corps of players experience.
