The veteran receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers departed.

Pittsburgh Diontae Johnson’s contract is about to expire with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there have been rumors that they might sell him for a suitable deal. However, The Athletic speculates that Johnson may be more eager to leave than Pittsburgh is to let him go.

Kaboly suggested that Johnson might desire to be moved this offseason in a statement on 93.7 The Fan.

Kaboly remarked, “I’ve heard some stuff here and there.” “… It might be the Steelers are looking to see who’s interested because, potentially, Diontae Johnson might not want to be here, either.”

Johnson’s three-year contract with the Steelers is coming to an end. He hasn’t surpassed 1,000 yards since signing an extension, and he ended the previous campaign with 717 yards and five touchdowns.

Pittsburgh is resolving some quarterback concerns, which is probably not contributing to their ability to hold onto elite wide outs. Both Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett, who have not seen sustained success with the team, are currently the favorites to start in 2024.

During the NFL Combine, the Steelers met with a number of the best wide receivers and were even mentioned as a potential trade partner to acquire one of the top prospects in the draft.

Although it’s debatable what Johnson would be worth in a trade, the wideout market isn’t as strong as it once was, so the Steelers may acquire a Day 2 choice in exchange for their seasoned receiver.
