Blinksportsnews247Javion Butts, a safety for Jones County High School, received eight offers going into his junior year and had another productive season on the football field. Since then, he has received twelve more offers, and the colleges on his offer sheet now include Kentucky, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
After Butts accumulated 51 tackles, six pass deflections, and two interceptions at Jones County, the Vols extended an offer to him in December. He met up with Volunteer Country to discuss his Tennessee offer moment and how the Vols put out a unique scene for him with the help of several coaches.
“The offer meant a little more to me than some of the others because it was my first SEC offer, so it just meant a lot, especially being in Georgia where everybody here roots for Georgia,” Butts told Volunteer Country. “Coach [Danny] O’Rourke called, but he offered me the phone and passed it to coach [Tim] Banks. Additionally, Coach [Josh] Heupel visited my school and spoke.
I speak frequently with Coach O’Rourke. He frequently sends me inspirational movies, and I like our conversations. The conversation with Coach Heupel was brief. Naturally, he was looking forward to putting me up there and said, “I’m a priority.”
They believe I’m a fantastic player, and their top-notch facilities and coaches will help me reach my full potential.”
He told Volunteer Country that he believes he could play for Tennessee in the secondary at any position. Having made a strong first impression, Tennessee appears to be in a terrific position in this recruitment. Butts has arranged a formal summertime visit with the North Carolina Tarheels.
