Up until now, the Cincinnati Bengals have perhaps made the biggest announcement regarding their franchise tag. They officially announced this morning that WR Tee Higgins would receive a franchise tag. Higgins was harshly described by Bengals head coach Zac Taylor shortly after that announcement.

Zac Taylor is glad that he kept Tee Higgins.

After the Bengals announced their franchise tag, Taylor had nothing but good things to say, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Taylor stated that Higgins plays a significant role in their offensive strategy. These were the precise words he spoke:

From the time we selected Tee in the 2020 selection, he has performed admirably for us. He will still play a significant role in our offense and team, which pleases me. -Taylor, Zach

Cincinnati Bengals Moving Forward

Taylor should be pleased that Higgins will be back in 2024. Higgins finished the season with just 12 games played, 656 receiving yards, and five touchdown receptions.

The Bengals will now make an effort to win it back in 2024. With this core group, Cincinnati seems intent on trying to win everything for at least one more season, if quarterback Joe Burrow can continue to play healthy. Burrow’s wrist injury kept him out of the last seven games of the 2023 campaign.
