Saints Have Selected Their New Coach-offensive coordinator

The New Orleans Saints decided to cut ways with longtime offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael a few weeks ago.

Although Carmichael had led the Saints’ offensive strategy since the 2009 campaign, it was evident that the group thought a new approach was required this season.

Adam Schefter of ESPN claims on Twitter that Klint Kubiak will be appointed by New Orleans as the team’s new offensive coordinator in his stead.

“After Super Bowl LVIII, 49ers passing game specialist Klint Kubiak is anticipated to join the Saints as offensive coordinator. This will be his last game with the 49ers. In 1994, when Gary Kubiak was the quarterbacks coach for the 49ers, he witnessed his father Gary also be a part of the team’s last Super Bowl victory. In 1995, he followed Mike Shanahan to Denver to become the offensive coordinator for the Broncos”.

As the 49ers’ passing game specialist right now, Kubiak is anticipated to play his final game with the club on Sunday in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Before coming to the 49ers this season, Kubiak worked as an assistant coach in the NFL on several occasions.

In 2013, he started his coaching career in the NFL as the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive quality control coach.

Kubiak rejoined the NFL in 2016 as an offensive assistant for the Denver Broncos, having left the league in 2015 to take a position as the University of Kansas’ wide receivers coach.

After spending three years with the Broncos, he eventually returned to the Vikings in 2019 to serve as the team’s quarterbacks coach.

Subsequently, Minnesota made the decision to elevate Kubiak to the position of offensive coordinator in 2021.

Although he didn’t do poorly, Mike Zimmer was dismissed by the Vikings in the 2022 offseason, along with the majority of his staff, including Kubiak.

Kubiak signed with the 49ers in 2023 after spending a brief period of time in Denver in 2022. Following Sunday’s game, he will join the Saints, where he will get another opportunity to lead an entire offense.
