Blinksportsnews247Jamie Allen of Coventry City suffered a fractured cheekbone in the 4-1 FA Cup fourth round replay against Sheffield Wednesday, and Mark Robins has asked the FA to investigate the late incident.
The head coach of the Sky Blues asserts that Owls defender Di’Shon Bernard “left a shoulder in” on the midfield player in what he calls a “deliberate” move that may cause the player to miss the remainder of the campaign.
The event took place in the last moments of the thrilling cup match, in which City demolished the visitors with three goals in eight second-half minutes at the CBS Arena, including two from Callum O’Hare and one from Haji Wright. Kasey Palmer had opened the scoring in the third minute.
“The only negative aspect of the evening was that Jamie Allen’s cheekbone was fractured by Di’Shon Bernard, leaving a fractured shoulder. This is not good and needs to be looked into.” It was, to put it mildly, unsavory, therefore the FA should look into it.
“He has a depressed fracture, so maybe surgery won’t be necessary. However, he may require surgery due to a depressed fracture. We’ll see.
“I have been in to see the referee because it was naughty,” he continued. The referee didn’t notice it or believed it to be unimportant at the moment, but they were letting things get away from us a little too much. However, it was evidently intentional and, to put it mildly, somewhat sour.
“He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Right now, my concern is for his wellbeing, not for the time out. And because he appeared disoriented, I’m praying he’s okay. Additionally, the fracture—which was a true indentation in his cheek—is visible. It’s not good.
