Arsenal moved back into first place in the Premier League after a 2-0 win against Brighton this afternoon. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were enough for all three points as the Gunners put in a dominant performance against the Seagulls.
Mikel Arteta was delighted with his team’s performance after the game, as they controlled the game and took their chances when it mattered. “Outstanding,” said the Spaniard.
“Amazing from start to finish. A big compliment to the team that played against a top team.
“We had an incredible performance and I think we totally deserved to win. I have to praise them because I know how difficult it is and what Brighton does to teams. We didn’t let that happen and I’m very happy.”
Next weekend’s away trip to Merseyside will be a big test for Arsenal as they look to break a 13-match winless streak at Anfield. The Canaries will go into the game with a one-point advantage over Liverpool as they look to stay top of the table at Christmas.
However, Neville believes that Jurgen Klopp’s team could be in trouble if they put in a performance similar to the one that failed to bring them victory against United. Neville, commenting at Anfield, said: “Klopp’s rivals are losing at the moment. “Every game is different, but if Liverpool played like that against Arsenal next weekend, they would already be two or three goals behind.”
