The Wolverines are just about two weeks removed from their 2025 maize vs blue spring game, which saw the Bryce Underwood-led blue team win 17-0 over the maize team. We finally saw some flashes of the highly rated in-state recruit and how the offense might look with him at quarterback.
There is much to get excited about, so let’s get into some early 2025 season predictions for the offense. Bryce Underwood is the Wolverines Day 1 Starter This is not much of a “hot take,” as some of the other predictions here, but with the addition of a quarterback like Bryce, how could he not be the day one starter? His high school stats speak for themselves: a whopping 179 touchdowns responsible for, with over 11,000 yards passing during his four years at Belleville. Bryce has every physical trait anyone could want in a college quarterback, and he’s currently only 17.
We saw some flashes at the spring game of what his talent can bring to the Wolverines this fall, and it is certainly exciting to know he will only get better. Bryce was 12-for-26 with 187 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception. He showed a remarkable ability to fit the ball into tight windows and make the right reads at the correct times.
Not everything was perfect, as Bryce had a few overthrows and miscommunications with receivers, but there is much to build on. He will only improve as he progresses throughout the season, and with his raw talent, that could be dangerous.
More O-Line ShakeupThe Wolverines’ offensive line in 2024 was highly inconsistent, and with the “smash” mentality that Coach Moore brings, we expected more. The running game averaged 4.4 yards per carry, 77th in the country. The inconsistencies shown last season were mainly attributed to younger players starting on the line and the constant shuffling of the line. In 2025, Coach Moore and the offensive line coach Grant Newsome must find the best starting five and stick with them throughout the year.
However, there might be reason to believe offensive line shakeups will continue during the 2025 season. The only for sure starters we know of so far are Giovanni El-Hadi at left guard, Greg Crippen at center, and Andrew Sprague at right tackle. The left tackle and right guard positions are still in position battles, which could run into the season. Junior tackle Evan Link struggled mightily last season and was consistently being switched between right and left tackle, but this season we could see him strictly play left tackle-if he is consistent.
If not, we could see transfer Brady Norton fill in, or even 5-star freshman Andrew Babalola slide in at the position While we all hope the Wolverines figure out the offensive line position before the start of the season, there is good reason to believe this may not be the case.
Two Running Backs Combine for 2500+ Yards Running backs Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall are going to be problems for opposing defenses this season. They are both powerful runners and extremely fast when in open space. They are both legitimate 1A and 1B options at the position, as either could start at any other Big Ten school.
The two backs will surprise a lot of people, and with an improved and consistent offensive line, we could see them combine to break the 2500 mark.
