The Denver Broncos have re-signed fullback Michael Burton, according to a report from the Denver Post’s Luca Evans.
It’s another one-year deal for the veteran. Burton (5-11, 247 pounds) originally entered the league as a fifth-round draft pick out of Rutgers with the Detroit Lions in 2015.
He went on to spend time with four other NFL teams before landing with the Broncos in 2023. Used primarily as a blocker, the 33-year-old fullback has rushed 14 times for 17 yards, seven first downs and one touchdown over the last two seasons in Denver.
He also has 13 receptions for 73 yards, five first downs and one score as a receiver out of the backfield. Last season, Burton played 175 of the Broncos’ offensive snaps (16%) and 294 of the special teams snaps (62%). He will likely have a similar role this fall.
Denver also has tight end/fullback hybrid Nate Adkins returning for the 2025 season. Burton’s resume includes a Super Bowl win with the Kansas City Chiefs and a Pro Bowl alternate selection with the Broncos last season.
