Jimmy Butler is one of the greatest players in Miami Heat history but his time with the organization ended on a bitter note, as has been the case with a few of his former teams. Butler made it publicly clear that he was looking to leave and was suspended three times by the Heat in quick succession before finally being traded to the Golden State Warriors. Things are looking up for the Warriors and Butler right now. They are 3-1 with him playing and look like potential Championship contenders once again. Butler’s introduction into the team seems to be getting the best out of Steph Curry as well as they seem to complement each other. Tim Hardaway is in a unique position, as he is considered a legend for both the Heat and the Warriors. And his comments in recent times have made it very clear that he is not a big fan of Butler’s antics. Hardaway believes that Butler just wanted to take games off even when he was not hurt.
According to HoopsHype, Hardaway said on Gil’s Arena: “The only thing he wanted you to do was play more games. That’s all he wanted you to do-play more games. “I don’t want to be in the play-in games anymore. I want to be in the playoffs, have a week off, prepare, and be ready for our opponent. We’ll be fresh.” Jimmy didn’t want to do that. Jimmy wanted to keep doing what he always did-taking games off. He wasn’t hurt. He was just taking games off.” Butler certainly has had a shaky availability record through the course of his career, not just in Miami. He has never played more than 65 games in a regular season since leaving the Chicago Bulls.
Things seem to be working out quite well for Butler in Golden State right now but when it comes to the 35-year-old, something is always around the corner. Or perhaps things completely change with Butler, as he will know very well that this is his last real chance to win a Championship. Curry knows what it takes to get to the mountaintop. He has made that trek four times in his career already. Butler just needs to give him the support that he needs to get there for a fifth time.
