Many members of the Los Angeles Lakers have discussed adding a big, tough center to assist relieve Anthony Davis’ workload this offseason. The organization has yet to make that move, but an intriguing name has arisen as a possibility: Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr.

Carter would make a lot of sense for the Lakers since he possesses the size and physicality they want in a big man, has been effective his entire career, and is only 25 years old. Furthermore, Carter has two years left on his deal at a very reasonable price.

For all of these reasons, the Lakers should be monitoring the Magic big man’s availability, which appears to be the case. According to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, the Lakers are following Carter, but they are not the only team doing so:

Carter has averaged double-figure points every season of his NBA career and has improved his game over the years, becoming an above-average three-point shooter in recent seasons. He is someone who could potentially both relieve Davis and play next to the Lakers superstar in big lineups. There are some injury concerns because he has missed at least 20 games each year, but the talent is there.
