Tennessee baseball secured its third commitment out of the transfer portal on Monday when Niagara first baseman Eric Rataczak picked the Vols over Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and other SEC programs. Rataczak is coming off one of the best seasons in Niagara history. Rataczak led the MAAC in batting average (.396), OPS (1.183), RBI (71), and on base percentage (.485).
He set new single-season program records for runs (59), hits (88), home runs (17), and RBI, and was named MAAC Player of the Year as a result. He was also a unanimous selection to the MAAC First Team. The Circle Pines, Minn. native ended the season on a 19-game on-base streak after he had a 26-game on-base streak earlier in the season.
He tallied a team-best 15-game hitting streak at one point and recorded 27 multi-hit games courtesy of 13 three-hit games, 12 two-hit games, and two four-hit games. He added 20 multi-RBI games, had 11 two-RBI games, four three-RBI games, three four-RBI games, and two five-RBI games.
