For the third time in five years, the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat faced off in the NBA playoffs. However, for the first time since 2008, the Beantown ball team won the Larry O’Brien trophy. Jayson Tatum and the Celtics visited Miami to commemorate their 2024 championship before going home for the parade and celebration. He was questioned if Boston’s vacation to South Beach was a little nicer without the challenge of enduring the heat while there.
“They’re always easy,” Tatum told Brian Scalabrine on June 22. Tatum and the Celtics dominated the 2023-2024 NBA season, going 80-21 overall.
This included a gentleman’s sweep of Miami (4-1). Tatum averaged 21.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists across the five-game series that did not include Jimmy Butler. The six-time All-Star suffered an MCL sprain during the Play-In Tournament and never returned to the court for the playoffs. His absence undoubtedly boosted Boston’s prospects, as did that of other players on their way to the franchise’s 18th championship.
