The Los Angeles Clippers announced that superstar Kawhi Leonard is cleared to play Tuesday night. Leonard missed the final eight games of the regular season and the first game of the playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks with inflammation in his right knee.Clippers head coach Tyronne Lue confirmed the news at the pregame press conference.Despite the odds, the Clippers took a 1-0 series lead against the Mavs on Sunday afternoon.
Amir Coffey, who started in place of Leonard, along with Terance Mann, played dynamic defense against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. In addition, James Harden, Paul George and Ivica Zubac kept the Clippers hot with 28, 22 and 20 points.Leonard played in 68 regular season games, his most since the 2016-17 season with the San Antonio Spurs. He was even the defensive MVP and averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.”Kawhi is the piece we need if we’re going to win it all,” Paul George said after Game 1.
