It was announced earlier this week that Ian Jackson, a five-star recruit, will play basketball for UNC and wear number 11. The official numbers that all three of the incoming freshmen will wear are now known. Drake Powell, a five-star wide receiver, revealed to Inside Carolina that he will wear No. 9 for the Tar Heels. He gave Sherrell McMillan the following explanation: “No. 9 will be on me.” Honestly, I have no idea why. I was told once by my cousin that Dwyane Wade wore it to the Olympics. Furthermore, I don’t believe anyone has ever worn UNC’s No. 9.”
As for four-star big man James Brown, it appears that he’ll be wearing the No. 2 as a member of the UNC basketball program. Tar Heel fans remember that Elliot Cadeau donned the number as a freshman but elected to switch back to the No. 3 (previously worn by Cormac Ryan) the number he wore during his prep/high school days.

The new Tar Heels have arrived on campus and have begun working out with the team ahead of their first collegiate seasons. Of course, UNC basketball fans are anxious to see them in game action, as at least we now know what number they will be wearing in Carolina Blue.
