This was the highest-ranked victory the Gamecocks have at home since they beat No. 1 Kentucky on January 26, 2010. There have been expectations for USC (16-3, 4-2 SEC) as high as a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

According to the most recent NET rankings, which the NCAA Tournament committee uses to select at-large teams, they are ranked No. 51.
