Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso will have to wait four to six weeks before making her official WNBA debut due to a shoulder injury sustained in the Sky’s preseason game on Friday, the organisation stated Monday. Chicago will also be without Brynna Maxwell, one of their 2024 draftees from Gonzaga, due to a knee issue; the guard will be evaluated in three to four weeks, the organisation stated.
Cardoso, a 6-foot-7 centre and the third choice in last month’s draft, is coming off an undefeated national championship season with the South Carolina Gamecocks, when she won Final Four Most Outstanding Player and won her second national title in three seasons. Cardoso came off the bench in Friday’s 92-81 loss to the Minnesota Lynx, scoring six points and four rebounds in 13 minutes before leaving with an injury. The Sky may also be missing Taya Reimer (concussion protocol) and Isabelle Harrison (questionable, knee) for Tuesday’s preseason game against the New York Liberty.
