He’ll make his point, no matter whether he has to make a daring statement or yell into the microphone to grab everyone’s attention. Smith didn’t have to yell to rationally explain why Nikola Jokic, the great player for the Denver Nuggets, had to perform better during the playoffs. Despite having home-court advantage against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Nuggets are behind 0–2.
Jokic hasn’t consistently put up subpar performances. He finished the Nuggets’ Game 2 loss with 16 points and 16 rebounds. That was unable to stop the Timberwolves from winning handily. Smith feels that because Jokic has won two league MVP medals, he should be held to the same level as players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
Superstars with All-NBA and MVP histories are expected to perform better. Whatever transpired in between the lines is irrelevant. They receive credit if they win and criticism if they lose. Smith believes Jokic should be the centre of attention for everyone in order to help his team win.
