When players started to arrive through the transfer channel in late March, talent constituted nearly all of our initial rankings. With so many important players’ futures known, prospective influence and fit start to play a bigger role in determining the rankings.

And for that reason, the top has changed.

Georgia Amoore was ranked first for a few iterations and has the strongest resume of any transfer this summer.

However, Kiki Iriafen’s transfer to USC—especially with Talia von Oelhoffen joining the Trojans—should have a greater effect than Amoore’s departure to Kentucky.

Two players have also left the rankings: KK Bransford of Notre Dame and Aaliyah Nye of Alabama have chosen to return to their respective schools.

Since March 18, more than 1,300 players have used the portal. Additional choices will be made, and all college basketball transfers must be registered in the portal by May 1.

Many players who were given attention and five players in particular still haven’t decided on their next course of study.

Iriafen’s decision to leave the Cardinal was not shocking given Stanford’s relocation to the ACC and Tara VanDerveer’s retirement. It was also not remarkable that the Los Angeles native chose to play with JuJu Watkins at USC. It still has the same impact in spite of it.

Iriafen’s transfer to the Trojans will have the biggest impact on the 2024–25 national championship game. This season, Iriafen transitioned from being a supporting player to a standout, improving from 6.7 points per game as a sophomore to a career-high 19.4 points per game as a junior and won the Pac-12’s most improved player title. In addition, she grabbed 11.0 rebounds per contest. Iriafen can effectively score from out to 17 feet or at the low post. Her effectiveness should be very high.
