Christian Wood is staying on the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster as they make decisions about their future, including after the 2024–25 season.Wood has activated his $3 million player option with the Lakers for the next year, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. In the run-up to free agency, the Lakers are dealing with a lot of issues. For the upcoming season, LeBron James is unsure if he would exercise his $51.4 million player option.NBA insider Marc Stein recently stated that “all signals” currently point to James inking a new contract with the Lakers this summer on the #thisleague UNCUT podcast (which begins at the 15:00 minute).

Although Hayes has a slightly stronger defensive reputation than Wood, he frequently fouls out because of his aggressive style of play. Throughout his career, the 23-year-old has committed 4.4 fouls every 36 minutes, including 5.0 this season with the Lakers.
Wood was only able to play in 50 games this year. On March 19, he had a knee injury that necessitated arthroscopic surgery, keeping him out for the rest of the regular season.
Wood did not play any minutes in the Lakers’ first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets, despite being available for Games 4 and 5. He averaged 6.9 points on 46.6 percent shooting and 5.1 rebounds per game by the end of the year.
