Following Troy Fautaunu’s selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, head coach Mike Tomlin of the latter team was immediately asked what position Fautanu would play.Tomlin stated unequivocally that the team does not consider Fautanu as a centre and instead sees him as a tackle.

Tomlin promptly dispelled a few rumours that were circulated regarding his potential as an NFL lineman.Tomlin questioned, “What are we talking about if he is a quarter of an inch taller? His arm length is excellent, and the tape is excellent.
During the predraft process, the Steelers invested a lot more in offensive tackles than they did in interior offensive line. Although Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. are the team’s starting tackles, there’s no denying that Moore might be better. Jones should be able to move to his natural position on the left flank after Fautanu is added.
