The Kuching City Football Club, also referred to as just Kuching City, is a Malaysia Super League professional football team situated in Kuching, Sarawak. Founded as a minor club in 2015, it is also the youngest club to ever enter the highest echelon of the Malaysian football league system. This is the third Sarawak-based professional football team.
With the launch of the People Football League in 2015, the Football Association of Malaysia aimed to modernize Malaysia’s lower levels and encourage amateur football in every state and district in the country. As a result, Kuching F.A. was established alongside it to represent Sarawak’s Kuching district.
FAM Cup
Kuching won the first Liga Bolasepak Rakyat in 2015–16 after defeating Padang Besar 3–1 at the Selayang Stadium. Kuching was promoted into the 2017 Piala FAM automatically as a result of winning the title.
Kuching finished fourth in Group B during their inaugural season in the FAM League, earning a spot in the playoffs. They were eliminated in the quarterfinals by UKM F.C., who went on to win the play-offs and be promoted to the 2018 Malaysia Premier League. As in the previous season, Kuching finished in fourth place in Group A during their second season in the FAM League. Regretfully, due to modifications in the play-off qualifying, they were not selected for the knockout stage, which was limited to the top two clubs from each group.
As several teams withdrew from the league, Kuching was asked by FAM to participate in the 2019 Malaysia Premier League in addition to their registration for the Malaysia FAM Cup.
Kuching unveiled a new uniform to commemorate their promotion to the 2020 Malaysia Premier League. The colors are green with white stripes, and the words “City of Unity” are inscribed in the center of the uniform. They added ”City” to the back of Kuching the following season.

For the first time ever, Kuching City has been promoted to the Malaysia Super League for the 2023 season following the approval of the MFL License. Former Singaporean star Aidil Sharin Sahak was named the team’s new head coach on August 2, 2023. The team also signed midfielder Nuriddin Davronov of Tajikistan and captain Petrus Shitembi of Namibia. In the 2023 MFL Challenge Cup, Aidil Sharin led the team to victory, winning 4–0 on aggregate against Kedah Darul Aman, his old team, and 3–1 on aggregate against Kelantan United in the semi-finals, which resulted in the club’s first-ever cup final.
