The Ravens have completed the initial wave of free agency, but they are still adding significant players to their roster. In 50 words or less, these are some of my thoughts as I closely monitor my March Madness bracket:The kind of adaptable offensive tackle the Ravens want is Josh Jones. Jones has played every offensive line position in the NFL with the exception of center, while being primarily a left tackle. He’ll be an important component of the offensive line the Ravens rebuild.
Jones was signed by the Ravens this week. Josh Johnson and Josh Ross are already there. The Josh theme may continue as wide receiver Josh Reynolds, a free agent, is allegedly of interest to the Ravens.
It was really cool that Ed Reed’s cousin, Air Force safety Trey Taylor, paid the Ravens an official 30-day visit on Tuesday. Last season, Taylor won the Jim Thorpe Award and accumulated six career interceptions. Is it any surprise that a playwright is Reed’s cousin?
The Ravens’ special teams are crucial, as everyone is aware, and they ought to be dominant there once more. Chris Board’s comeback rounds out the special teams roster. He re-signed alongside two other outstanding members of the special teams, Malik Harrison and Arthur Maulet.
Speaking of Maulet, he is excited to return to Baltimore and play nickel cornerback with his toughness. He persevered through many hardships to get to the NFL and is still adamant about winning a Super Bowl. Maulet had a fantastic interview on the “The Lounge” podcast where he talked about his love of football.
It should be entertaining to witness this summer’s offensive line competition. Sala Aumavae-Laulu, Daniel Faalele, Andrew Vorhees, and Ben Cleveland ought to be vying for a starting position. John Simpson made a good living in free agency by doing that over the summer.
Derrick Henry averaged 4.2 yards per run last season, finishing second in the NFL in rushing (1,167 yards). I’m in if that’s what you mean by declining. Henry might be able to win another rushing crown if the Ravens strengthen their offensive line.
