It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers will not be the target of the cavalry.

Three Lakers players—guard Gabe Vincent, forward Jarred Vanderbilt, and center Christian Wood—are anticipated to miss the remainder of the season, according to a report released on Tuesday by Bill Reiter of CBS Sports. Reiter continues, saying that while it is anticipated that Vanderbilt in particular will not return, it is still possible.

It was announced earlier this week that Wood, who has been sidelined since the All-Star break due to a knee issue, has chosen to undergo arthroscopic surgery. However, the situations involving Vincent (out since late December due to a chronic knee injury) and Vanderbilt (out since early February due to a foot injury sustained on a non-contact sequence) seem novel.

With Taurean Prince, Spencer Dinwiddie, Max Christie, and Jaxson Hayes alternating shifts, the 37-32 Lakers have established their bench rotation recently. Cam Reddish is expected return at some point as well. But as the Lakers battle to make it to the playoffs, it still hurts to be without that trio of injured defenders and playmakers.
