Kelly Maxwell, the pitcher from Oklahoma, is adjusting to life on the other side of chaos quite well.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Week, the star left-hander for the Sooners, stood up to the high standards set by her esteemed forebears in Norman this week. In addition, Maxwell was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.

Maxwell is 8-0 on the season through 14 appearances (eight starts), with a 1.31 earned run average, second on the club only to Kierston Deal’s 1.25. Additionally, Maxwell leads the Sooners in strikeouts with 56, just one more than Nicole May’s 49. She is ranking third on the OU staff and limiting opposition hitters to a batting average of just.164.
This week, the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (27-1) will play four games at Love’s Field: UT-Arlington on Wednesday, then a three-game Big 12 series against Baylor on Friday at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City and on Saturday and Sunday at Love’s Field.
