Justin Madubuike, a defensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, is not moving.
Executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta announced on Friday that Madubuike had reached an agreement to extend his contract with the Baltimore Ravens for an additional four years. According to a person with firsthand knowledge who was not permitted to publicly discuss the topic, Madubuike’s new contract is for $98 million, which includes $53.5 million at signing and a total of $75.5 million in guarantees. This information was provided to Tyler Dragon of USA TODAY Sports.

The Ravens selected Madubuike with the 71st overall choice in the 2020 NFL Draft, taking him out of Texas A&M. The 6-3, 305-pound defensive lineman had a breakout season last year, setting career highs in tackles (56), sacks (13), tackles for loss (12), quarterback hits (33) and forced fumbles (2). He was also named to the All-pro team for the first time. Madubuike played in 11 straight games with at least half a sack, tying an NFL record.

Earlier this week, DeCosta stated, “We were unable to agree on a contract extension with Justin before the deadline and will use the franchise tag.” “We will keep working to reach a long-term agreement with Justin, as he is an excellent player and person.”
