Draymond Green makes his retirement known.

It is said that Draymond Green will play for “two, three more years.” He is unable to reveal his precise retirement year ahead of time due to his widely shared disparaging remarks.

Green clarified that he is a victim of his own virality in an interview with Paul Pierce for his podcast. Green was overheard on TNT’s mics trash-talking Pierce in 2016, during his last season as a LA Clipper, saying how nobody gave a damn that he was retiring.

Green yelled at Pierce, “Chasing that farewell tour, they don’t love you like that.” “You thought you were Kobe?” he asked.

Green was nudged about that particular instance by Pierce, who insisted he was unable to hear Green’s trash language from his seat. “In your last year, are you going to announce that it’s your last year?” Pierce enquired.

“Nope. Nope. “Someone’s going to do me like I said to you,” was Green’s reply.

Pierce desires to be the one.

“I’m coming to them games, and I’mma yell the same thing you yelled to me!” Declared Pierce. “Please announce your last year!”

That’s the issue with trash-talking while one is winning, particularly in the internet era. Everyone has the transcripts of their previous conversations when the player eventually begins to falter.

Green admitted as much. He said that he would only announce his retirement if he and his longtime teammate Steph Curry were to retire simultaneously.
