Blinksportsnews247Over the past few years, the Milwaukee Bucks have done all in their power to maintain the happiness of their top player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This includes the fact that two of his siblings are players even though none of them contribute significantly to the squad.
The Bucks choose to cut 22-year-old Alex Antetokounmpo from the roster, thus as of right now, the Antetokounmpo trio is shrunk to a duo.
Milwaukee Bucks and Alex Antetokounmpo part ways
In a technical sense, Alex hasn’t played for the Bucks this year. He has played 16 games this season with the Milwaukee Herd, Milwaukee’s NBA G League affiliate, and has spent the most of his time with them. The 6-foot-8 forward scored 6.2 points and pulled down 3.9 rebounds per game on average throughout that time.
But the Herd chose to buy out Alex’s contract on February 14 (via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). It is currently being claimed that the youngest Antetokounmpo sibling is returning to Europe, where he will sign a contract with M Basket-Delamode in Lithuania.
Now, Alex will be pursuing the career path of his elder brother Kostas, who is now employed at Panathinaikos in Greece. Naturally, Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo will continue to play with the Bucks in America.
Despite being 22 years old, Alex still has a good chance of eventually joining the NBA. He will have to refine his abilities in the Lithuanian Basketball League for the time being.
