The Bengals had to replace their offensive coordinator after Brian Callahan left to become the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, and then they had to replace the quarterbacks coach after Dan Pitcher was promoted.
Jordan Salkin has also joined the club as an offensive assistant. Salkin, an NFL and college veteran, most recently worked as an offensive commentator for the Oregon Ducks.

With Ted Karras still under contract, the Bengals don’t currently need a center, but they might be interested in a backup plan in case Karras decides to move on or even retire. Moving Powers-Johnson to guard would be another interesting suggestion. Given Cordell Volson’s ongoing troubles, the Bengals may decide to add some serious competition for him.
Not only is Powers-Johnson considered the finest center in the draft, but he is also thought to be the top offensive lineman in the interior.
The Bengals front office may find it helpful to have a witness on site who can vouch for Powers-Johnson’s preparation, practice habits, and teammate qualities as they consider their alternatives with the 18th overall pick.
Though Powers-Johnson now has a direct connection to a Bengals coach to watch as the draft approaches, free agency will probably also shed some light on how the Bengals approach the draft in April.
