Blinksportsnews247According to a recent rumor, Sam Petitto, a former employee of the Alabama Crimson Tide, has joined the Ohio State Buckeyes as their director of football player personnel.
Sam Petitto has reportedly joined the football front-office staff of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Pettito, who was the Alabama Crimson Tide’s director of personnel operations, will take over in the same role with the Buckeyes in the upcoming campaign. With Petitto’s hiring, Ohio State has filled that post with a new employee three times in as many years.
During the offseason, the Buckeyes have taken a number of players from the Crimson Tide football team, including offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin, quarterback Julian Sayin, and safety Caleb Downs. But Ohio State has added Petitto as its first employee from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) heavyweights.
It is anticipated that Petitto’s position with the Buckeyes will be “director of player personnel.” Given that this is what he has done for the bulk of his career, Petitto will not be unfamiliar with the duties of this role.
Petitto spent the last eight seasons as the director of personnel operations for the Crimson Tide, working under head coach Nick Saban, who is now retired. After serving as the director of player personnel for the Georgia Bulldogs for two seasons—followed by stops at North Carolina, Grambling State, and Southeastern Louisiana—Petitto moved to Tuscaloosa.
As previously stated, Petitto will be the third different person to occupy this role at Ohio State in a short period of time. The Buckeyes hired Marc Votteler, who is currently the associate athletic director of player personnel for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team, in 2023, after Zach Grant, who is currently the general manager of recruiting for the Cincinnati Bearcats, was hired in 2022.
It’s thought that Petitto will begin his tenure with the Buckeyes today, per a Letterman Row article.
