Blinksportsnews247In less than a month, former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis will move into a second new residence.
Dennis joined the Utah Utes’ staff under Kyle Whittingham after departing the Buckeyes program following Bill O’Brien’s hiring as offensive coordinator. Dennis is returning to Ole Miss to work with Lane Kiffin’s staff, less than two weeks after he previously stated he was with Utah.
Dennis started as a coaching intern at Ohio State in 2015 and worked his way up to graduate assistant for the 2016–17 campaign and senior quality control coach for the 2018–19 campaign. Since 2020, the 31-year-old has guided Ohio State’s quarterbacks, but he was let go when O’Brien assumed control of the offense to take the helm at Boston College.
Out of the three coaches who were fired following the 2023 season, Dennis is the only one who has moved on. Perry Eliano, the former safeties coach, and Parker Fleming, the special teams coach, left the program in January and have not been hired back. Ryan Day is assembling his own coaching team at the Buckeyes, as seen by the recent promotion of James Laurinaitis, a former graduate assistant, to lines coach. That followed the appointment of Chip Kelly, a former head coach of the UCLA Bruins, as offensive coordinator. O’Brien had departed Columbus to take a position as head coach at Boston College.
Every year, it is our responsibility to determine which areas—whether related to the team or the employees—need to be modified. And to make sure the appropriate guys are in the proper seats, we’ve put in a ton of effort and thought about it a lot. Day stated Friday from the Ohio High School Football Coaches’ Association seminar, “so now it’s time to go to work.”
