Blinksportsnews247According to a press statement from the franchise, forward/center Darius Bazley has officially signed with the Philadelphia 76ers to a 10-day deal.
In his fifth professional season, 23-year-old 6-foot-8 Bazley is playing. Rich Paul, a powerful agent, is his agent.
After high school, Bazley decided to train out on his own and, when eligible, enter the NBA Draft rather than play collegiate basketball or play in the G League.
With the No. 23 overall pick in 2019, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder one week after being chosen by the Utah Jazz.
Last summer, Bazley was dealt to the Nets and was waived prior to training camp. He has been playing incredibly well for the G League’s Delaware Blue Coats ever since.
Delaware is the Sixers’ G League squad.
Shams Charania of The Athletic stated, “Entering his fifth NBA season, Bazley is coming off a 38-point, 15-rebound game and averaging 21 PPG and 10 RPG as one of G League’s best.”
Bazley has averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds over his NBA career, but he hasn’t played in more than 43 games since 2021–2022. He played in just seven games for the Phoenix Suns in the previous season. He hasn’t made any appearances this year.
However, the Sixers can afford to give him a shot because they are in need of a big man to replace All-Star and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid.
Philadelphia (32-22) is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and third place in the Atlantic Division after having lost seven of their last ten games.
