Mike Maignan’s contract expires in 2026, and AC Milan is attempting to extend it. However, the Rossoneri may face challenges in the negotiations. Thus, according to a rumor, Monza’s Di Gregorio seems to be their backup plan.

Since replacing Gogio Donnarumma when he joined Milan in 2021, Maignan has established himself as one of the league’s top goalkeepers. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the Rossoneri are eager to extend his contract.

Today’s Tuttosport (see photo below) reports that Milan has begun negotiations with Maignan and his entourage, albeit they may take some time. The goalie has stated his desire for at least €8 million year, which would surpass even Rafael Leao’s salary.

Milan is ready for the worst-case situation, but they are still hopeful that a compromise will be reached in the talks. In fact, they are monitoring Michele Di Gregorio, the goalie for Monza, who the tabloid claims is valued at €20 million.

The 26-year-old is Italian, which is always advantageous given the squad rules, and he has shown promise with Rafaelle Palladino’s team. But, as previously mentioned, Milan’s main objective is to unquestionably extend Maignan, even though a sale is not completely out of the question.
