After being acquired by the Clippers from Philadelphia on November 1st in exchange for James Harden, Tucker only appeared in 12 games before being permanently removed from the lineup. It was November 27 when he last played.
According to ClutchPoints.com, the 38-year-old forward stated before the trade deadline of February 8 that he wanted to be transferred because he was frustrated with the current circumstances.
During the Clippers’ triumph over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night in San Francisco, Tucker was not present.
The last game that PJ Tucker dressed for the Philadelphia 76ers was on October 29, 2023. Two days after reporting for a 19-minute stint against the Portland Trail Blazers, Tucker received word that he was leaving for the Los Angeles Clippers in the west. The veteran forward traveled out to the West on the day of the trade and played in the Clippers’ November 1 game against the Los Angeles Lakers because he was so eager to get going. Tucker had a part in the Clippers’ early seasons, starting 12 games and averaged 14 minutes off the bench.
Tucker made it apparent that he was taken aback by finding himself in the middle of the James Harden story, despite his seeming excitement about a new beginning. Tucker reiterated that he didn’t seek to be on LA’s bench some months later, as he continues to be a fixture there.
Tucker recently stated, “I feel like I shouldn’t have to go through this,” according to Clutch Points. “I am not here by request. I didn’t demand or beg for a deal in order to be here. Tucker was hoping that the NBA trade deadline would bring some closure. The veteran’s name was the subject of rumors, but the Clippers received no serious offers. Tucker is still in Los Angeles, and it doesn’t appear that a buyout is imminent. After missing games since late November, the former Sixers full-time starter is suddenly a reliable healthy scratch.
