Blinksportsnews247As Reading supporters staged more demonstrations against owner Dai Yongge on Saturday, hundreds of clowns flocked into Select Car Leasing Stadium.
After a series of previous demonstrations that included tossing tennis balls into the field, marching through Reading’s streets, and invading the pitch during their match against Port Vale, Royals supporters mounted another kind of protest this past weekend.
In an attempt to protest Dai Yongge’s poor club administration, fans were spotted dressing up as clowns and donning wigs, face paint, and clown masks.
“In our eyes Dai Yongge is a clown and he needs to hurry up and sell the club to someone who will invest wisely and drag us out of the mess he’s created,” said Nick Houlton, a spokesman for the pressure group Sell Before We Dai.
Since we take pleasure in being a family-friendly club and recognize that not all supporters find demonstrations that disrupt games to be comfortable, we want our most recent protest to be something that everyone can support, enjoy a little fun with, and send a strong message to the club’s owner.
On Tuesday, February 20, Reading’s next home game against Port Vale, there will be additional demonstrations.
It is requested that both groups of fans wave red signs that read “Show Dai the red card.”
“Don’t worry Vale fans, no pitch invasion this time,” reads a statement from SBWD. In the sixteenth minute, we will host a red card show, and we’ll encourage both sets of supporters to come.
“On matchday, we’ll be handing out cards to every fan; this is a protest that Port Vale supporters have previously carried out. and in China, it’s believed that the color red drives away evil spirits.
