The Browns have advanced to the playoffs twice in the previous four seasons after only once in more over 20 years, winning their first postseason game since moving back to Cleveland in 2020.
A large reason for their success has to be ascribed to head coach Kevin Stefanski and Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager Andrew Berry.
In 2020, the two men were signed by Cleveland, two weeks apart, by the same organization.
Stefanski and Berry should get contract extensions as a thank you for their tireless efforts in turning the Browns back into a contender.
It’s absurd to consider that the Browns haven’t extended the contracts of either their head coach or general manager/vice president of football operations in 25 years.
Rather, in 25 years, they have had eleven different head coaches, beginning with Butch Davis in 1999.
After completing this final season, Stefanski has already been the coach with the longest tenure since football returned to Cleveland, defeating both Romeo Crennel and Butch Davis.
He became one of the best coaches of the past ten years after winning his second Coach of the Year Award in four years.
As for Berry, he’s one of the best football brains in the game and has assembled the necessary players and coaches to make Cleveland a contender.
Therefore, Cleveland’s main objective should be to permanently lock these two up.
