It appears that President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens is happy with Boston’s roster in advance of the NBA trade deadline given that transaction was completed and the team’s constrained financial resources.
Five hours prior to the deadline on Thursday morning, NBA source Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports said that it was doubtful the Celtics would make any further changes.
Fischer said on the X platform, “Unless something unexpected happens, it seems like Boston is done making moves before (Thursday’s) 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.”
Although there’s always a chance Stevens makes a move to acquire another bench player, Boston’s quiet deadline shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Before the deadline, nobody anticipated the 39-12 Celtics, who are now leading the Eastern Conference by five games, to be significant participants.
Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday were the two players Stevens dealt for in the summer, and both have been crucial to the team’s success this year.
