Klay Thompson has had a difficult season for the Golden State Warriors in 2023–24 as he has battled greatly on the court. Throughout this campaign, Thompson has shown signs of frustration on several occasions. A video of him stomping a chair and disregarding Stephen Curry has since gone viral.

This user claims that this incident happened during the Warriors’ December 119-116 loss to the Phoenix Suns. That evening, Klay shot 2–10 from the field yet ended with 7 points and 5 rebounds. You could see why his struggles on the court were causing him so much frustration.
Unfortunately for Thompson, he has seen difficult nights much like that one this season. In just 17.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks a game in 2023–24, the 33-year-old is performing below average. In addition, he has shot a career-low 41.5% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.
The writing appears to be on the wall at this point, and even head coach Steve Kerr seems to be losing hope in Thompson. Recently, Kerr has chosen not to use the five-time All-Star in late game situations, and Klay declared he was disappointed that the Warriors were not able to win.
In actuality, Thompson would have been on the field during crucial periods if he had performed better and been more reliable. He just cannot be relied upon by the Warriors at this time, and in order to earn their faith again, he must perform better.

According to Steve Kerr, Klay Thompson needs to adjust to the new circumstances.
After Thompson acknowledged that he was not pleased with his benching in the final minutes, Kerr said the guard needed to adjust to the new situation.
“[Klay] remains a highly talented player. He still has significance for us. The defense, the adaptability, and the floor spacing. It’s simply unique. Adapting to those altered conditions is one of our challenges, as much as his.”
At some point in their career, every great player must face the fact that they are just different from who they once were. They have to acknowledge that there are times when their teams might perform better without them. It’s much easier said than done, particularly if you’re like Thompson, who has played a crucial role in four championship teams over his career.
Kendrick Perkins desires a trade of Klay Thompson with the Warriors.
A lot of people have demanded that the Warriors sever their relationship with Thompson, and former NBA center Kendrick Perkins shares this opinion. Perkins pushed the Warriors to trade Thompson on Tuesday once more.
“Why the Warriors won’t halt the bleeding is beyond me. Exchange Klay Thompson. He’s not finished, in my opinion; he’s just not there psychologically. This will most likely be his final chance to obtain his large bag.”
“He has nothing left in the tank in a world where some want to call him washed and others want to declare he’s done. To be honest, I don’t think that.
Perkins has argued that a major factor in Klay’s struggles this season has been his failure to receive an extension during the previous offseason. Though he feels that a change of scenery is necessary, he thinks there is still gas in the tank.
