Klay Thompson is not a happy man after missing out on the Golden State Warriors’ closing lineups in their last several games. After the Brooklyn Nets were defeated 98-109 on Monday, Thompson told reporters that it is “very hard” for him to sit out the most of the fourth quarter.
In the final seconds of the Warriors’ 101-121 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies last week, head coach Steve Kerr decided to keep Thompson off the court. In the game against the Nets, he did the same thing, taking Thompson out of the game with 7:19 left in the fourth quarter and not playing him again.
Thompson expressed his dissatisfaction when questioned by media about missing out on the most significant parts of recent games.
“Are you serious? Move on from one of the top players, you know? For anyone, it’s difficult,” Thompson remarked. “I’ll tell you the truth. It’s really challenging.
Klay Thompson has had a challenging 2023–24 season. His average of 17.1 points per game is the lowest it has been since his second NBA season. He is also making a career-low 37.1% of shots from beyond the arc.
With a 22–25 record, the Warriors are now ranked 12th in the Western Conference. They trail the leading Oklahoma City Thunder by 11.5 games, but the Utah Jazz, who occupy the final play-in place, are only one game behind.
