Awesome: Smart makes his way back to Boston on Sunday.

As a member of the Boston Celtics, Marcus Smart played in 334 games at TD Garden, spending the first nine seasons of his career there.

On Sunday, he’ll be back, but as a guest this time.

Due to a finger injury that is projected to keep him out until March, Smart will not be playing. Still, the Celtics anticipate that he will definitely bring his signature energy to Boston, which will benefit both teams.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said to reporter Taylor Snow, “I think there will be a little bit extra emotion, just because of how Smart’s been able to impact the community and impact the Garden so many times.” “Maybe he can dive on the ground for a loose ball and roll one out (during a timeout)—I’m not sure if his hand hurts still.”

This season’s game between the Celtics and the Grizzlies is off, so Smart’s on-court reunion with his hometown will have to wait.
