The Bulls have consistently brushed off inquiries from other teams about their highly sought-after defensive guard, Alex Caruso. According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, Chicago would need to make an offer of several first-round picks in order to engage in negotiations.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report believes the Sacramento Kings may be willing to pay a high price in order to acquire the guard who makes the first team all-defensive. Buckley believes this might occur next week.
Making a difference
When looking at Caruso’s career statistics, the layman might question why the NBA is so interested in him. His season totals for the Bulls aren’t particularly impressive—10.1 points on 48% shooting, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. A closer look at the statistics suggests that the “Bald Mamba” might be just as important to a team’s performance as Domantas Sabonis and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the All-Stars.
Do the Bulls give up?
One team that has aspirations of moving up in the Western Conference is the Sacramento Kings. They have a youthful player in Keegan Murray, a microwave scorer in Malik Monk, and two real All-Stars in De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis. The squad is lacking a player who can block the leading scorer on the other team and make open threes. Caruso is a great fit for this job.
“He provides all win-now buyers with missing-piece potential, but the Sacramento Kings should outbid everyone for his services as they may need a defense-first glue player to really step up. Giving De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis a real chance to contend is worth the loss of two first-round picks (and possibly more stuff), according to Buckley.
