According to Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints, Kerr stated, “This last month, I think he’s really broken through and it’s just been amazing to watch because it’s been two and a half years of a lot of ups and downs, and he’s stayed with it the whole time.” “What he’s accomplished has simply amazed me.” He’s developing into a terrific player.
Kuminga’s previously noted 29 points came from an effective 11-of-15 (73.3%) field goal shooting performance during Friday’s victory. The forward also pulled down six rebounds and hit six of his seven free shots. Kuminga has now scored at least 20 points in eight consecutive games for the Warriors, including their most recent performance.
Despite Green’s comeback, Kuminga remains a starter thanks to his play.
Even with Draymond Green back in the lineup, Kuminga has been a member of the starting lineup due to his recent performance. In Kerr’s most recent lineup change, Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry round out the outside. Kuminga and Green start at the four and five spots, respectively.
Kuminga has averaged 15.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season. Even though his figures don’t change, they don’t provide a complete picture. Because of his youth, the forward can contribute a level of intensity that makes him ideal to play in the frontcourt with Green. Kuminga may not be as massive as some other big men, but his athleticism more than makes up for it.
One of the key reasons the Warriors’ new starting lineup has been successful is the presence of Jonathan Kuminga.
