Doyle has worked tirelessly and neatly in the engine room over the past three games, and Thompson thinks it will be difficult for O’Neil to bench him if Gomes is back available.
“Doyle’s grown in stature with the way he’s playing,” the Wolves official stated. He’s obviously getting better, in my opinion, and match sharpness will be the reason for that. He’s been playing lately and at Brentford he scored a fantastic goal.
You can see why they recruited him to this club—you can see what he has to give. He can play as well as put in a lot of effort and willingness to take risks. Gomes hasn’t let the manager or his teammates down with the way he’s performed, so it will be intriguing to see what happens when he returns.

Doyle will have another chance to make an impression in the FA Cup this Sunday against West Bromwich Albion, since Gomes is unable to participate due to serving the final game of his suspension. You wouldn’t rule out Doyle making an impression.
Lemina is actually a perfect choice, but it also depends on who teams up with the Gabon international.
This season, Gomes has excelled, and his relationship with Lemina has been growing.
Former Wolves winger Mark Kennedy once called Doyle “outstanding.” Doyle is a superb craftsman who constantly tries to get the ball through the lines. He is content to get on the ball while under pressure and doesn’t play as safe as Lemina or Gomes.
It would be quite unfair to dismiss him if he keeps up his good form against West Brom. He just adds a little something different.
