Blinksportsnews247When Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat visit Toronto on Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff at Scotiabank Arena, the Toronto Raptors might be severely shorthanded.
Following their absences from Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics, Gary Trent Jr. and Gradey Dick have been listed as questionable to participate. Dick is dealing with a sprained right thumb, while Trent is fighting a flu-like condition.
Otto Porter Jr., Christian Koloko, and Jakob Poeltl are still sidelined for Toronto. Poeltl will probably be out for at least another week due to a sprain to his left ankle. Koloko is out indefinitely as he continues to treat a persistent respiratory condition.
Porter has been out of commission for the entire month due to a right knee sprain, thus his status is still unknown.
Javon Freeman-Liberty of the Raptors 905 appears to have been called up by the Raptors. The Raptors have not made an announcement on his call-up, although he is not included in Toronto’s injury report versus Miami.
While Poeltl is out, expect Toronto to put Jontay Porter in the starting lineup for the second straight game, leaving Thad Young and Chris Boucher off the bench.
In the event that Dick and Trent are both injured once more, Jalen McDaniels and Freeman-Liberty may see time in action as bench players. In his career, Freeman-Liberty has not yet made an appearance in an NBA game. The Chicago Bulls’ G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, was where he played his whole previous season.
Dru Smith, Kevin Love, and rookie first-round pick Jaime Jaquez Jr. are all out for Miami.
