The Tennessee Titans’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18 has officially secured the Buffalo Bills’ postseason berth. In Week 18, the Jaguars exerted every effort to lose, while the Titans presented a formidable display of humility.
The Bills will at the very least assure themselves a spot in the playoffs, no matter what happens in South Florida tonight. But, there are still other options available to them that could result in a much better conclusion, so backing into the postseason isn’t the best course of action.
The clubs competing for divisional supremacy and the second seed in the AFC are the Miami Dolphins and AFC East. A victory in Miami would give Buffalo their fourth consecutive AFC East Divisional championship. If the Bills prevailed, they would host NFL Super Wild Card Weekend the following weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Bills lost to the Dolphins tonight evening, they would forfeit their second-round bye in the playoffs. However, since they secured the seventh seed, they would once more find themselves in the frequently sunny state of Florida for the Wild Card round the following week.Remarkably, with the Jaguars’ loss, none of the AFC teams that have defeated the Buffalo Bills this year advanced to the postseason.
