Boston’s goalies Mayors of the season….

The Bruins have a 20-7-6 record this season, and Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman have both been key contributors to their success. Boston defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 at KeyBank Center on Wednesday night, ending a four-game losing run.

Swayman made 26 of 27 saves, the penalty kill was 6 for 6, and the power play was 3 for 3. Not only did the Bruins win, but Swayman also had a great comeback victory after giving up five goals to the Jets in his game.

It’s obvious that Swayman benefitted from the past few days, whether it was the holiday break or getting trapped in an elevator with Jakub Lauko on Christmas Day. Charlie Coyle also took note of his efforts.

He and Linus Ullmark have been invaluable to us this entire year. To those guys, we owe so much. Swayman was tied for third in the NHL with two shutouts, second with a save % of.929, and third with a goals-against average of 2.17 entering Wednesday’s contest. The current Vezina Trophy winner, Ullmark, with a save percentage of.914 and a GAA of 2.87.

For the Bruins, the four-game losing run was a trying time. They hadn’t dropped four games in a row since the Toronto bubble Stanley Cup Playoffs in August 2020. Even though there was a lot of blame to be distributed, Boston’s goaltending was not their biggest concern during that time.
